How You'll Support Our Mission

ESO is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Revenue Accounting to lead all aspects of the revenue accounting process and help build a best-in-class function tailored to our SaaS business model.  In this role, you will oversee the quote-to-cash process, including customer invoicing, cash collections, contract review for GAAP revenue recognition compliancer (ASC 606), and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of revenue-related financial reporting.  You will also provide technical revenue recognition guidance to leadership and collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives and ensure compliance with accounting standards. 

As a key leader of the accounting team, you will manage and mentor a team of three revenue accountants and a four member cash collections team, fostering professional growth and building a strong, collaborative work environment.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment, has deep expertise in GAAP revenue recognition (ASC 606), excels at process improvement, and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead cross-functional coordination effectively. 

What You'll Be Doing - the day to day

  • Oversee the revenue accounting function, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and SaaS-specific accounting policies;
  • Support the end-to-end quote-to-cash process, including invoicing, customer account management, and cash application; 
  • Lead high-profile projects to enhance and automate the company's revenue accounting processes and drive increased business intelligence;
  • Provide actionable technical revenue recognition guidance to leadership, partnering closely with FP&A, Legal, and Sales teams;
  • Lead the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and accuracy in revenue accounting workflows;
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate revenue, billing, and accounts receivable processes, minimizing manual efforts and reducing errors; 
  • Mentor, train, and oversee a team of three accountants, ensuring team goals and professional development are achieved;
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis related to revenue accounts;
  • Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits and reviews, providing required documentation and guidance as needed.

Who You Are - the essentials

  • Prior experience using NetSuite & Salesforce/CPQ
  • 8+ years of revenue experience (preferably within technology or software industry)
  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Prior experience in a multi-currency environment
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills - including written and verbal communications, interpersonal, and analytical
  • Ability to juggle multiple high priorities and have a willingness to learn

Who You Are - the desirables

  • CPA or chartered accountant 
  • Experience reading and interpreting contracts
