How You’ll Support Our Mission! 

Our vision is to provide our customers with meaningful information that leads to actionable outcomes, improving community health and safety through the power of data.As a DevOps Manger at ESO, you will be working as part of the global DevOps team and reporting to the Director of Cloud.   

You will lead a team of DevOps engineers across multiple time zones and will strive to make our software more reliable while increasing release cadence of your team. You will develop automation solutions for deploying the infrastructure and services required to run our applications in Azure. You’ll be a teacher, an engineer and a promoter for modern DevOps and Infrastructure-As-Code practices.

What You’ll Be Doing – the day to day: 

We are looking for a hands-on manager to lead our DevOps practice. You will be a key member of our Engineering group which consists of creative technologists who lead by example, setting the pace and tone for building a culture of high performing teams.   

You can expect to: 

  • Work with our development and quality teams to implement and advise on the use of technologies, tools and processes. 
  • Work with our development teams to build and improve our infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD processes. 
  • Be the expert and Go-To person for DevOps process and patterns across the organisation.  
  • Advocate for server-less technologies and help with the implementation of these technologies in various teams across the company.  
  • Have flexibility and ownership of DevOps technology and processes.  
  • As a Dev Ops Manager one of your key responsibilities is to build and maintain a passionate, engaged and effective team. You do this through taking a deep interest in the people that report to you by making sure they are happy, motivated and challenged in what they are doing. 

Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role: 

  • 5+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer. 

  • 1+ years’ experience of leading, managing or mentoring a Software Dev Ops team.

  • Have a passion for people, growing teams and delivering with quality at the forefront.

  • Excellent teamwork and collaborative decision-making skills.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

  • Cloud platform experience, preferably with Azure but open to AWS, GCP etc. experience.

  • CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins and Octopus Deploy etc. 

  • Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.  

Who You Are – it’s desirable if you have some of the following experience:  

  • Agile development methodologies (Scrum / Kanban).
  • Docker and Kubernetes orchestration preferably deploying and supporting production applications.
  • APM/Infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools such as New Relic.
  • Windows and Linux environment experience.
  • Experience with development languages such as .NET, Java and Python.
  • Experience with Database technologies such as SQL, Mongo and Cosmo DB.
